Serving the Erie Community | Erie County Medical Society

In recognition of our public service commitment, here are some of the projects in which the Erie County Medical Society has been involved in the last few years.

During this difficult time, it is important to not forget those in our community that are considered food insecure. That is why ECMS did its part to collect donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.

Dr. Jeffrey McGovern, President of ECMS, delivers contributions to Second Harvest from recent drive to support the Erie community.

Anyone who missed the opportunity to donate goods to our collection can still contribute. Visit https://nwpafoodbank.networkforgood.com/ to contribute, and be sure to note in a donor scroll that you are making a contribution as a physician of the Erie Community.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Erie County Medical Society has supported this event and recruited world famous physician Jerri Nielsen, MD to Erie to participate. Dr. Nielsen was team physician to the Antarctic Expedition in 1999 when she discovered a breast lump.

She had to do her own biopsy and give her own chemotherapy until spring arrived and she could be airlifted out of Antartica. She was an enormous inspiration to all women suffering this disease.
